HOUSTON – September 4, 2014 – Post Oak Pharmacy is being rebranded as Spectra Specialty, the company recently announced. The name change is part of an overall shift in the company’s business model.
The Conroe, Texas store will now serve as a specialty pharmacy providing a wide range of compounded medications, as well as education for physicians and patients. Spectra Specialty is also opening five new store locations across four states.
One of the pharmacy’s unique features is the ability for doctors to take an active role in the compounding process — the practice of creating custom-mixed prescription drugs using FDA-approved ingredients. Spectra’s pharmacists are available to consult with doctors and design personalized prescription pads with an appropriate selection of medications for their specialty and patient demographics. The store is also partially owned by physicians, with investment opportunities available for those who strongly believe in the benefits of pharmaceutical compounding.
Spectra-specialty.com, the company’s new user-friendly website, provides valuable information to patients and physicians about the benefits of compounded medications, available treatments and services for physicians.
“This is an exciting time for the company as we enter a new era,” Spectra Specialty CEO Bruce Gingrich said. “We plan to expand on the quality services we offer our customers, with additions such as the ability for doctors to prescribe Spectra compounds through electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Our pharmacists are looking forward to partnering with physicians to create a strong and diverse product base.”
